Our dental assistants and hygienists are caring professionals who pride themselves on staying on the cutting edge of dentistry and patient communication. They are excited about what they are doing, have high standards of quality and integrity, and are motivated to achieve the best results for our family of patients.
Our dedicated and motivated staff has one primary goal—your utmost comfort! Dental Assistant, Manager
Becky is originally from Ohio, but moved to Canon City with her family in 1975. She always wanted to be in the medical field and she got her chance when she became a dental assistant in 1975. The dentist she worked for retired and Dr. Smith bought the practice from him in 2002 and she has been working for him ever since, making more than 42 years with the same practice. She loves her work, especially meeting and getting to know people more fully. Becky is experienced and exceptional at most every aspect of running the dental office including chair-side assisting, reception, PR, advertising, prosthetics and too many more to list. Becky is the heart and soul of this office and is loved and respected by everyone from Dr. Smith and the team members to her patients. She also believes in giving back through community service, such as her volunteer work with Colorado Mission of Mercy and 9 Health Fair. When she is not working Becky enjoys traveling, walking, reading, quilting, and doing genealogy.
Registered Dental Hygienist
Andrea is a Colorado native from Florence. She first began her dental career working as a dental assistant for Dr. Jared Smith in 2002. After six years at this position Andrea enjoyed the dental field so much she decided to continue her education. She graduated with Magna Cum Laude honors from Pueblo Community College as a member of Phi Theta Kappa. Where she earned her AAS as a Registered Dental Hygienist. Andrea was proud to receive the Mel Tekavec Academic Excellence Award for her graduating class of 2011. She is a member of the American Dental Hygienist Association, is certified in nitrous oxide/oxygen sedation, local anesthesia, advanced periodontal therapy, Cerec design and trained in Invisalign. She is especially passionate about the education aspect of working with our patients; helping to improve their smiles and health. Andrea is devoted to community service and believes wholeheartedly in the continued need to help others. She spends countless volunteer hours each year as the oral hygiene instruction department lead for Colorado Mission of Mercy. Andrea values quality time with her husband, children, and dogs. In her free time she love to travel and is an avid reader.
Registered Dental Assistant
Kelley has been a resident of Canon City for more than 43 years. Having grown up with a mother who worked in a dental office it only made sense for her to pursue her own career in the dental field. Kelley feels working for Dr. Smith has been the best choice for her and she has been working for him since 2009. Her current role in the office is as the lead dental assistant. She is unmatched in her skills and training assisting with major procedures including dental implants, Cerec crowns and bridges, along with 3D imaging, root canal treatment and many others. Kelley volunteers annually to work with Dr. Smith at Colorado Mission of Mercy to provide oral health care to those in need. For Kelley the part she enjoys best about what she does is helping others. When she is not at the office she enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, camping, and quiet time at home.
Dental Assistant, Treatment Coordinator
Evie is a retired dental hygienist of 25 years with expanded duties certification. She spent 7 years with us as a dental hygienist and assistant, then left to work with Centura Health. We are please to say she has rejoined our team as our Treatment Coordinator and fills various roles, as needed. Evie is warm and caring, with such a wealth of knowledge and kind demeanor, she is alway there to help patients feel more at home and informed on any questions they may have.
Evie’s big, Italian family, four kids and a grandson are her first priority. She’s looking forward to having more grandkids to love in 2018. Her favorite hobbies are gardening, cooking and being in the mountains. She also likes to read and shoot her bow.
Amanda is originally from Amarillo Texas where she was a member of the National Honor Society and National French Honor Society. Amanda relocated to Canon City and has been the first friendly face you see when you walk in our door since 2014. She enjoys spending her free time fishing, camping and traveling. Amanda is CPR certified by the American Heart Association and has twice received certification for “excellence in dedication and achievement in helping all patients receive superior health care” through The Scheduling Institute. With her friendly personality and qualifications you can be confident she can assist you with whatever appointment needs you may have.
Registered Dental Hygienist
Jessica is Colorado native. She was born and raised in Salida, CO. She graduated Magna cum laude and as a member of the Phi Theta Kappa from Pueblo Community College with an AAS degree in Dental Assisting. She work in the office manager position and realize she enjoyed the clinical aspect of the dental field. She earned her second AAS degree as a registered dental hygienist from Pueblo Community College Cum Lauda as a member of Phi Theta Kappa. She’s certified in nitrous oxide/oxygen sedation, local anesthesia, digital x-rays, advanced periodontal therapy and has her certification for LASER periodontal therapy. Jessica believes in, and maintains a high standard of care for her patients. She believes in giving back to the community and has been involved in Colorado Mission of Mercy and the free dental days provided to the community by Community Dental practices. She continues to seek knowledge and enjoys taking continuing education courses throughout the year. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, friends, in the kitchen, and in the outdoors
Registered Dental Hygienist
Laura grew up in Montana and SD but moved to Rangely, Colorado to obtain her AAS degree as a registered dental hygienist in 1999. When the opportunity presented itself for her husband to return to his hometown she left her previous hygiene position of 16 years in Longmont, Colorado and moved beautiful Canon City! She has Dental Assisting experience and has been hygienist in a periodontal office treating patients with periodontal disease. She is certified and experienced in administering nitrous oxide/oxygen sedation and local anesthesia as well as being certified in CPR. She enjoys attending continuing education classes to stay up-to-date to provide the best possible oral hygiene care to her patients. What she enjoys most about being a hygienist is getting to know her patients on a personal level. She loves going on mission trips to other countries to help those in severe need in addition to helping people in her own community and has volunteered several years for Colorado Mission of Mercy. She enjoys many outdoor activities such as camping, canoeing, hiking, biking, and gardening. She especially is fond of her newest addiction: bird watching!
